There has been a bumper release of Security Fixes by Apple in the last week, yesterday saw the latest in the line of these was Apple’s release of 10.5.5 which included Security Update 2008-006.

The update covers something like 34 issues across the entire OS X Leopard operating system. There are too many individual issues to detail them all so we’ll do the quick list of them and you can view more detail in the Apple Advisory here.

  • VideoConference -- CVE-2008-3621
  • Wiki Server -- CVE-2008-3622
Included in this update too is a BIND update, but this is more of a Version update than a fix for specific vulnerabilities.

It should be said that Security Update 2008-006 is not just for OS X Leopard but also applies to OS X Tiger. It is highly recommended that Mac users get the update installed as soon as possible.

In the last week we’ve had updates for the iPhone and iPod Touch with the 2.1 release of the firmware which itself included a number of security fixes. There are also fixes included in the release of iTunes 8 and it’s companion of QuickTime 7.5.5 and the little known Apple product of Bonjour for Windows saw it get a security update too.
